query failed update cases when adding custom field

I have an issue when I add custom fields, then go back to the mass update in cases. If I have altered the field and put data in it, then it will not update. It returns error query failed: update cases blah blah blah... MySQL error 1062: Duplicate entry '

If I upgraded to the next solana patch, will this be fixed?
Is it possibley a permissions issue? because I know I have some problems with permissions

Or is this that custom fields are not going into the db right?
I am using hosted service, mysql version communicty edition.

so now that I've repaired databases and all that. This situation persists.
It is that I can not close any cases. I've removed the extra fields in cases and returned it to what I think was it's original state. But looks like I can not close any cases at all now without the error on key 1

I see in your other post that you are running MySQL 4.1.22.

I absolutely recommend upgrading to MySQL 5.1. MySQL 4.1 is a very old release. We will be dropping support for MySQL 4.1 as of the next major Sugar release, version 5.5.

I have not heard of this issue from anybody else and it's one that would come up quickly. So my first guess is that this is a database issue and not a Sugar issue.
