Question Question about "Cache" directory suze

    Hello,

I've noticed that the directory "cache" size is about 1.8Go
It seems that all those those files are related to emails!

I'm wondering if I can regularly empty the directories called "images" and "upload" without any loose of data in emails ?

Is there any parameter that I could set in order to limit the size of the cache directory ?

Thank you for any help concerning this issue.

    BR

    Nils

If you wipe out the uploads directory, you'd be deleting the actual files that correspond to the various attachments linked to your e-mails.

Secondly, you would also be deleting any file that may have been liked manually by users via the Notes section.

If neither are of a concern to you, you could wipe out the uploads folder without harming the system, but you'd also have to clean up the references in the database so people don't click on items referencing files that are no longer there.

As for limiting the size, you should be able to do it via the use of quotas, but you should be aware that if you exceed the quota, Sugar may return odd errors and the like, as it would be unaware of such limitations.

As far as cache directory sizes, that's about inline for moderate usage for a year or so. If storage is not an issue, then I would recommend leaving it alone.

As pointed out already, those are the files directly linked to various Notes in the system, most are probably email attachments. Some may be from Documents and Knowledge Base (4.5.1+).

Hitting filesystem quota has led to many strange behaviors in Sugar - there is unfortunately no easy way to accurately enforce it from within PHP as it is a stateless environment. If you do go that route, be prepared to clean out that directory often. Email attachments, especially from spam, can clutter a filesystem very quickly.

The new Email module will address this by being much more selective as to what is archived into Sugar from a given mailbox. It shifts the paradigm from "Sugar archives the contents of your email account" to "Sugar will archive what the user tells it to" - more along the lines of the Outlook plugin. I believe we are prepping beta 2 (don't hold me to that) for public consumption in the coming weeks.
