Question on autonumbering

Is there a way to set say, Opportunity Name, to an auto number? Since we will have multiple people accessing the system, we don't want duplicates. We are using 5.2.0c CE.

There is no GUI way to do this, and the name field cannot be in number field (in the database) without breaking a few things. So the best solution would be to have someone write you a simple logic_hook that takes whatever is entered into the name field and appends an incrementing number to the end of it, or just replace it with the number.
