    Default Recording "interests" for Contacts

    Hi All,

The obvious way for this is to create a series of checkbox custom fields in the Contacts module and then just check the interests they have e.g. golf, theatre etc.

However, I'm wondering if there's a better way as if you do this properly you might have 20+ interests and the sub-panel in the Contacts detail view would take up a lot of space.

Is there another way using a custom module with a many-to-one relationship to Contacts. How would this look in a subpanel of Contacts? Easy to mock up I know, but would value the Community's collective thoughts before I start.

Why don't you try a mulliselect dropdown field for interests?

Hiya, yep, that might do it. Although my concern about screen real estate being taken up is still there as when you select multiple values from a multi-select, the Detail view shows all of them and pushes the next row down the screen doesn't it?

yes. you are correct. But if you want, you can alter the behaviour in "include\SugarFields\Fields\Multienum\DetailView.t pl". And you can display it horizontally, instead of vertical display
