Question regressions? with e-mail truncation and other e-mail related questions

    Hi all,

I am more than amazed on what you guys did put into sugarCRM open source. Big thank you!

Running it, I have 2 distinct issues with e-mail handling:

    1) Inbound e-mails are sometimes truncated after a German Umlaut character (like ä,ü,ö), sometimes inbound e-mails do not contain any content. I have scanned the forum and found users reporting similar issues being fixed with a previous version. Still, I am now experiencing them with are quite new version 4.5.0g. The strange thing is that this happens with e-mails sent by some people, but not with others. My DB table collation is utf-8, and in the e-mail settings I had tried to go with ISO 8859-1 first, then with utf-8. Both didn't seem to work. Any ideas?
I am actually polling the messages from a POP3 mail box.
Help on this topic would be highly appreciated

    2) The second issue that I currently fight with is that I cannot open any file attachments with my Internet Explorer. The error message that IE issues is:
Internet explorer cannot download download.php. Internet explorer was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.

Digging more into it, I could isolate it to the following:

Opening the attachment fails for the following failing configurations:
    IE6 and IE7 using https

Opening the attachment succeeds for the following succeding configurations:
Mozilla 2 using https and http
    IE6 and IE7 using http

Unfortunately I would need it to work with IE7 using https. Any hints, ideas there?

Here some additional details on my configurations:
» Operating system type and version, Linux, not sure which version
    » Sugar Suite version: 4.5.0G
    » Apache/2.2.3 (Debian) mod_python/3.2.10 Python/2.4.4 mod_ssl/2.2.3 OpenSSL/0.9.8c
    » PHP version: 5.2.0-7
    » MySQL Version: 5.0.30

    Thanks so much!!

    Martin

I am experiencing the same problem.

I can download files with Firefox but not IE7 over https. Getting everyone to switch to Firefox is out of the question.

Has anyone found a solution to this yet?

I followed the advice found on the Wiki and it resolved my problem.

since I am not under control of the webserver (hosted environment), I cannot easily implement all the listed option.
Do you know which of the various recommendations finally made the attachement issue disappear?

Also, did you also experience e-mail truncations, or only the https related attachment issue on IE7?

    Thanks..:Martin
