Relationships - Explain

I've read many, many posts, documentation, etc and I'm still a little confused on proper relationships. I've create three new modules in Module Builder and installed them. Vendors, Products, and Details. In the details module, I want to be able to select my contact, select a vendor, select a product, and then have fields like amount and notes.

It seems that if you relate Vendors to Products it works differentlly than if you relate Products to Vendors.

How would you correctly relate these four modules; Vendors, Products, Details, Contacts?

How are you relating the modules? Do subpanels for each module appear under each module's records?

When you created the modules in Module Builder, did you add relationships between each of the modules? Creating relationships between modules in Module Builder creates subpanels for the modules records. These subpanels are used to relate records to each other.

If you simply want to create associations between the module records, you can use the "Relate" and "Parent" type fields that can be added to the layouts. Using these fields does not actually create relationships between the records; a relationship table is not created in the database for these associations.
