    Default Removing core modules

    Hi,

We use Sugar for sales tracking so we only use the leads and opportunities modules.

Is there a way that I can remove all of the unwanted modules and includes to reduce the size of the installation in my hosting space?

I had a quick go but it seemed to be a major task to take the includes out of the main files that load with Sugar.

Alternatively can you suggest a more appropriate piece of software? I tried XRMS but that's twice the size of sugar for 2 module's worth of functionality!

    thanks

    Pete

Hi peterfreeth, you can always disable (hide) modules via Admin. Removing modules altogether will yield some disk space savings but have virtually no impact on performance or memory consumption.

The benefits of disk space savings are negligible in this era of Cheap Disk. You should just go with disabling the modules.

Thanks - the module tabs are already hidden. By disabling the modules do you mean something different to this?

Since Sugar takes me to the limit of my hosting space, we have to keep email quotas low. Trimming a few Meg off Sugar would make a big difference as it is the biggest user of space on my site.

Hi peterfreeth, I used "disabling" and "hiding" interchangeably. Sounds like you're hitting the wall on space so one option is to remove unused themes.

Now, having suggested this, I'm not sure just how to go about doing it. Our Wiki has an article on Creating Themes. Should be just the inverse, right? So, proceed with caution and make a backup!! But unused themes may be an option.

So, too, is increasing your quota, but you have to weigh the two options.

    Thanks again Andy,

I already have all but the Sugar theme deleted, non English languages for Sugar, non English languages for FCK editor, the fonts directory which alone saves 2 Meg.

One space problem is always upgrade files which I can't delete, I have to get the hosting company to delete them as I don't have permission. Is there any way for Sugar to allow me to delete the upgrade files once the upgrade is complete?

    thanks

    Pete

Were you guys discussing CORE modules like Leads, Accounts, etc. I went to the admin panel, but non of the Core modules were listed to disable. I need to disable the "Leads" module, as it will not be used at all. Any suggestions?

Yes, remove the tab and it will be gone!
