Default Renaming Pages and Shortcuts = Tab names

    Hi

We are new users, using Open Source SugarCRM 4.5. We are setting up SugarCRM and have changed the Tab name of "Accounts" to "Companies" to fit with our normal naming conventions. However when a user goes to the Companies Tab Page - he sees:
    Accounts Home (page title)
    Create Account (Short Cut)
and on the create Account Page he sees:

    Accounts (Page Title)
Account Information (first data window name)

Is there a way to change all of these names from Accounts to Companies? We want to change a few other Tab names too but only if we can apply those changes throughout the section.

    Thanks for your help

    Clayton

Unless someone has a better idea (or lets me know where I can find the answer in the manuals or in a forum thread that I couldn’t find) I think all I need can be achieved by using a language pack. Just edit the US version for example and replace Accounts with Companies etc save as new default language.

This seems overly complicated but we need to do this with a number of the tab headings (Accounts > Companies, Bugs > Tickets, Projects > Tasks) and only changing the Tab not the page title and shortcuts etc confuses all our users.

Any help finding a simpler method would be most appreciated.

    Thanks
    Clayton

    Hi Clayton,
Go to Admin --> Studio --> Layout Editor --> find the layout that relates to the labels you wish to change, then choose Label editor from the shortcut menu. Here you can change all occurrences of "Accounts" to whatever you like.
    Hope this helps.

    Stewart

Admin>Studio> Gives me a choice of:

Edit a Module | Edit Drop Downs | Configure Tabs | Rename Tabs | Configure Group Tabs | Edit Portal | Repair Custom Fields

I cant find "Layout Editor" here?

I have renamed Tabs (in this example Accounts to Companies)

if I go to Edit a Module, then pick Companies it get aa choice of:

Edit Layout | Edit Custom Fields | Edit Drop Downs

If I select Edit Layout I can edit the layouts:

Detail View | Edit View | List View | Search Form

I have changed the field names etc. But I still cant work out how to: Change the "Page Name" Which says Accounts in Red with a folder icon and the Shortcuts that say Create Accounts and Accounts

Am I missing something simple here?

In light of crawlboxes comment is this a bug....a missing edit option in Studio?

Can one of the Sugar Team say if its me being stupid, a feature or a bug?

I've found a work-around. The Lable Editor is there, there just doesn't seem to be any way of accessing it.

Paste this onto the end of your URL

    ?action=index&module=DynamicLayout&edit_label_MSI= 1

This will take you to the label editor - it worked for me.

I used this feature on the 4.5 versions. However, while I was in the Accounts section of the module, I click on Edit Label on the left panel to rename one of the lables from Member Organization to Group. After saving, my Accounts page no longer shows up. It's just a blank page.

I also could not access the Accounts page to edit the labels back to it's original state. So I searched the files that was recently modified and the only file listed was en_us.lang.php located at this path:

    \custom\modules\Accounts\language\en_us.lang.php

I renamed the label in that php file (located in two places) back from Group to it's original name of Member Organization.

Unfortunately, this did not resolve my problem.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your time.

I was able to copy the original file, en_us.lang.php, back to the existing program.

However, it did not correct the DetailView.html and the EditView.html files. I resolved that by going to the History tab and chose the last known good date.

I still don't understand why the Edit Label did not work. Is there another way of renaming the modules' names or am I missing it somewhere?

    Thanks.
