    Default Reporting and custom fields

    Hello,

For existing customers I want to set up custom fields detailing the tarriff that they have purchased from me and the hardware they are using, and the renewal date of their contract. Is that possible in Sugar?

I then want to run reports. Most importantly I want to see a report of all customers whos contract is expiring in a certain month. Is that possible?

The above information I then want to export to CSV (ie the list of customers with expiring contracts in any month). Possible?

    Thank you.

Thanks. But my question is whether this can be done by a non technical user, ie using standard Sugar features, without having to do programming work.

    Thanks.

    Hi phil,

I assume you are using Open source.

Not sure what your exact business process is, but any custom fields can be created and placed via Studio. These fields can then be placed into the advanced search so that you can search on them. In the case of the date field, you could create a renewal date field. The only limitation here in the advanced search is that you would need to specify the specific date. If you wanted to search by a date range, this would require code customization. Your other option would be to export all the records into a csv and then sort by the renewal date in the csv and manipulate the data there.

Another option would be to install Zucker reports to be able to run reports.

Here is a link to the Admin guide on how to use Studio in 5.0: http://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/index.ph...6.html#1113123

    Hope this helps

Smile Re: Reporting and custom fields

This is all very easy to do in Pro with its reporting module. After you have set the custom fields of customers in the Studio, you simply create a Report which filters upon them. You can filter by date range, or keyword (this month, next month, sometime next year, etc).

You could even set up a workflow to auto-define the contract expiration field to some fixed time after the record creation, for example, autoset contract expiration to 60 days after creation.

But my question is whether this can be done by a non technical user, ie using standard Sugar features, without having to do programming work.
If you are using Open Source, then you would have to hire some help, as there is no way to fulfill all your requirements via standard OS front-end features. If this is the case, many here can help you, myself included.

However, I would recommend considering an upgrade to Professional. You could probably get one year of subscription for similar/less the cost of customizing and supporting the OS version (plus all the other benefits of Pro)
