ok it is not as much a reporting error as a bug I think

When i run the report the converted amount shows a $ but the amounts also show a $ and not the currency symbol of the opportunity?

and how do i update the opportunities toe the current exchange rate?

(1) take the right amount field (ther are amount and opporutnity amount. One is in opportunity currency and one in the system currency
(2) there is no job to update the values on the opportunities and it also does not make a lot of sense since you loos information on the values when the opporutnity was entered
(3) you can dynamically report using the current exchange rate using a kreporter Filed in our KINAMU Reporter. Since I found this an interesting request I have heard before I have created a PDF on how to do this with the KINAMU Reporter. You can find this Document here.
