    Default Reset Custom Directory

    Hello Forum;

I am new to SugarCRM and not a programmer. I have been working on customizing Sugar for my needs and have created a number of new modules, fields, etc. Along the way, things got a bit messy. Now that I have a much stronger understanding of how Sugar works, I'd like to just start over. I don't have data in my solution yet, so I'm not worried about losing customer info. I understand I will lose my custom modules and custom fields, etc.... That is what I want.

My understanding is that I need to reset/delete the custom directory... Is this correct? If so, how do I do so?

Just to clarify: I am looking to bring Sugar back to its original state.

I am using OnDemand with the most recent upgrade.

    Thanks for any help!

    Hello,

As per I understand you query , you need to restore you sugarcrm at original state ie without any customisation.

Direct delete of custom directory may lead to bugs , you need to delete your customization one by one.
obviously you need to take a full backup before doing anythings.

    thanks

If you are OnDemand then just put in a case and Support will take care of you. The best way to do what you are talking about is just a new install probably. If there is no data to lose then that is the safest way.

Thank you both for your responses. I do appreciate everyone's help here... this has been a huge resource for me.

kbrill: I am taking this weekend to try to knock out the majority of my customizations. Do you know if I submit a case for a re-install - would it get done right away (e.g. in the next 8 hours)?

If not, I may need to do as ashdwi1 suggests and delete everything manually. I've done much of this already, but there are some weird quirks that would be all cleaned up if I started over. Now that I've worked with it for a number of hours, and tracked what worked and what didn't, I am more confident that I'll be able to customize more efficiently this time around, so that is my preference. However, I have all day to work on it (the next 24 hours) and then limited time after that.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks again,
    A.J.

I went ahead and submitted a case - I am going to sleep and didn't want to hold anything up. I know patience is a virtue in these forums - I apologize about my sudden need for help! I certainly didn't start this thread thinking that I would need a re-install. I was thinking I would delete a few files and then go about my business (...ha!).

Thanks again for all your help.

I cant really guarantee that. It depends on your service level, but it would be a simple case so I am sure that once it gets assigned they will submit it to get it done quickly enough.

I absolutely understand! I knew it was a long shot.

As I mentioned, I have limited time and there was nothing *major* that needed undoing, so I just manually deleted what I could so I could work on it today. It's not my ideal situation, but I have to get back to work sometime!

I am a small business owner, so this customization has to be done on my "off" time. Such is the reality of owning a small company!

Thanks so much for your help, Kenneth! You have been a great resource and I appreciate you taking the time to help complete novices like me!
