Default Restoring SugarCRM to a new server.

The following are the information from my hosting server:

» Operating system type : Linux
    » Sugar Suite version : 4.2.0
» Webserver type and version : Apache 1.3.31
    » PHP version : 4.3.11
    » MySQL server version : 4.1.16

We have recently migrate to another hosting server, i managed to backup the crm folder and also the database. However, when i try to restore it to the new server, the process failed. May i know how can i restore the whole system?

    Thanks.

    Hi oracle,

You can aslo take the back up manually(http://sugarcrm.openapp.org/?p=141) and then populate it on the new server(http://sugarcrm.openapp.org/?p=142).

    Hope this helps.

    Hi paikmoses,

Thanks for your prompt reply. In the previous installation of Sugarcrm 4.2.0, i have done some customizations to the system such as adding new fields and creating new columns and rows. I have already backup the DB. Now that we are using the new hosting server, can I install the new SugarCRM 4.5 to the new server and restore the DB? Will the customizations be lost?

I would appreciate if you can guide me here as i'm not very IT literate. Thanks.

    Hi oracle,

If you have created custom fields and done some customizations then you will have to upgrade Sugar from 4.2.0 to 4.5. When you create new rows and columns then it changes the html files and also it creates the custom data folder in the database. To make it compatible with other versions it is wise to go through the upgradations.

    Hope this helps.

    hi paikmoses,

Thanks for your help. I'll try to do that now. I will try to install version 4.2.0 to the server, restore the DB and replace the sugarfiles with previous application files. Do you think this is workable?

    Thanks.

    Hi paikmoses,

After so many times restoring SugarCRM in my local server. i found that by using version 4.2.0d is the best. Anyway, there is an error in the 'Cases' module where it says "Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #2 is not an array in C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\msbcrm\include\utils\array_util s.php on line 63" on top of 'Case Search'

I couldn't figure out what is wrong there. Please help.

    Thanks

    Regards,

    oracle

    Hi oracle,

I agree with you, Sugar 4.2.0d is the best version that I've used, It is really very good and have least bug.

BTW, are you able to view the other modules without any error? This seems to be some unusual error. Would appreciate if you can provide a screenshot of the error page as it will be more helpful to tarce that.

    Hi paikmoses,

Above is the screenshot where the error message comes from. Any ideas on how to solve it? I tried to look into the php file but really do not know what's wrong there.
