Default Role help - prevent user from changing relationships?

I've created a new role in which the user has viewing-only access to a custom module, which has a relationship with Accounts. All permissions are set to None, except List and View which are set to All, and Access which is Enabled. Logging in as a test user with this role, everything seems to be working fine, except If I go to Accounts and click the Remove button on the subpanel for my custom module, I can remove the relationship with this account, even though the record is left intact. This is doubly bad because my relate field in the custom module is a required field, a record shouldn't be able to exist when it's not related to an account! I'm considering removing the Remove button from the subpanel, but I'd prefer not to. Any ideas?

I should add that when logging in as the test user, the edit button disappears from the subpanel but the remove button does not.
