Running a Mailing List from Sugar

I'm having difficulty understanding how to run a mailing list from Sugar. I was looking at some of the documentation about 'campaigns' but it seems to be a marketing tool. Like a mass mailer that would look suspiciously like spam.

I just want to keep my current clients up to date with what's going on in the business, and give them a way to automatically unsubscribe. It doesn't appear that the Campaigns option can do that.

Does anyone know how to run a standard mailing list from inside Sugar?

I think that you've hit upon something that's been one of the weaker parts of Sugar for a long time.

If you are looking for a service that's similar to a traditional email service provider (like Constant Contact, iContact, MailChimp, etc.), you might look at inbox25.com - one thing I like about their service is that they can handle both standard SMTP one-off emails and campaign based ones. Their service includes an Email Testing Suite, a kind of Inbox Preview, too, and overall seems to be soemwhere between a plain SMTP forwarder and a more standard ESP.

Sugar is definitely not a mass mailing tool but can do exactly what you want. Look up the word newsletter in the documentation, there you'll find also a paragraph on how to create an unsubscribe link (which BTW doesn't have to be created because Sugar always puts such a link into campaign/newsletter emails).
