Sales Chart or Report

I'm the head of Sales department in our company. With 3 months of data already. In Dashboard, you can see the opportunities according to sales stage, whether proposal, under negotiation, final review, ID decision makers closed, and won. Being in sales, apart from the obvious sales stages that's important, another important thing to me is to compare sales this month, to previous mounths. How do I see that in dashboard? Or charts? I want to see total sales of all sales persons combined, or per sales person for a period of 3 to 6 months, so as to evaluate the sales person.

Is this possible in SugarCrm OS?

What's the difference between a report or a chart? Is report graphical? I saw something called Jasperreports, but don't know exactly what that is.

Can someone shed some light on my question?

In the professional version there is a Report tool that will report the way you want. The OS version does not have the reporting capability other than the prebuilt dashboards. You can add the reporting capability using jasper reports but jasper is a really complex reporting engine and will require some skill with database to design reports the way you want. This works and works well and is better that the reports that can be made with the Professional version but requires more work to build a report.

You mean to say it's not just a simple installing jasper reports and it's already integrated into the gui of SugarCRM? Do I need to learn some kind of programming before I can use the reports?

Does SuagarCRM OS have the ability to add additional tables to the dashboard without any 3rd party app?
