Default Sales stages and status fields

Hi does anyone know what the sales stages in the opportunities module mean and the meaning of the status fields in the cases module?
E.g, qualification, needs analysis, value proposition, Id. decision makers??

    Hello bluelobster,

the sales stage field in the Opportunities module tells you just that: it tells you at what point in the sales stage the opportunity is at. The Opportunities module is generally used to track potential sales. Ex: qualification means this potential item needs to be qualified further, proposal/price quote means that a proposal and quote has been submitted to the potential client, closed won means the deal has closed etc.

This field is tied to the Probability % field. You will notice that based on what you select in the Sales Stage dropdown, the probability field is auto populated (this can be overwritten). You can modfy the dropdown values in the sales stage field to match your business needs. I would also suggest you update the Probability field to match. For more information, you can click here

The Cases status field simply tells you the status of the case

Thanks so much, but it was the actual terms I was unsure of. I'm not sure what Id. decision makers mean and needs anlalysis?? I don't understand the terminology as I'm new to this.

Also if you have any idea's, I need to get the email addresses from my contacts. I need a list of my email addresses so that I can send all my contacts a letter but not from the crm. It's from another email address. Basically I need a list of my contacts' email addresses so I can use them somewhere else.

    Thanks again

    Hello:

For the definitions of the sales stages, I suggest taking a look at wikipedia. Here is a good place to start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales_process

In regards to the Contact emails, in the Contacts list view, there is the word 'Select' near the Delete, Edit, Merge Duplicates, Compose Email buttons. Click on this and a dropdown appear to eiter select only 'this page' or 'all records'.

Then, click the Export button. This will export all Contact data into a csv file. You can then delete all columns in the cv you don't need and just have the contact name, email addrees, and any other data you want.
