Saved search & layout tab - NO custom fields available

If I use the Saved Search & Layout tab (in my case, in the Accounts module), my custom fields are not available.

Is this by design?

Surely it can't be?

I have also just started to look at this - and of course it is so simple that I missed it. Just edit the module as normal, but select the layout of "Search Form"

Yes...that's the easy bit...but in the lists of columns to show on the search results page, any custom fields you have added are NOT there...

Just added:

It is the LIST VIEW which you need to modify to allow the addition of your custom fields...
