Scheduler Hangs "In Progress"

Sugar Community Version 5.1.0 (Build 4732)
I don't know the answers to any of the other setup questions (operating system, webserver, php or mysql), but I'm sure I can find them out from someone with access to the servers.

The scheduler item: Run Nightly Mass Email Campaigns is supposed to run every hour, 24 hrs/day, the way I have it set up.

I have a campaign with 500 targets, set to go out at 6am today. At 9am, 212 emails went out. What happened to the rest? It's now nearly 2pm.

Take a look at the sugarcrm.log at the root of your SugarCRM installation.
Perhaps there is any error message related to this scheduled job. It can guide you to the solution.

Also try to run the cron.php directly to see if it errors out. Before you do that, edit and save the scheduler in question. That will clear the 'in progress'. Then run the cron.php something like this

php -f cron.php

see if any errors are shown while it is running.
