    Chaps

    Got the contacts sorted but I am unable to search any contacts by:

    Name
    Contact Type
    email etc

    I have double checked that the search criteria is "cleared" Still Nothing

    If you clear all search criteria you should see all contacts after hitting the "search" button.
    What are the settings for the roles attached to the user concerning contacts module? E.g.: maybe you are allowed to see your own contacts only and there is no contact assigned to you.

    I am the only person currently on the system until I have it correct.

    Sounds daft but this happening. Bit pointless having a CRM you cant search

    So you are logged in as admin?

    Did you customize the system?
    Any error messages in sugarcrm.log?

    Maybe a screenshot of your contacts page with the search settings could be helpful to see a bit more.

    Hi

    Yes as Administrator.
    I did customise the fields (can search off them either)
    Will send contacts page screen shot.

    No idea where the log is located

    One idea regarding the clearing of search options. There is one case when this does not work as expected. Maybe this causes the problems here:

    Clearing the search options only clears the search criteria shown in the search fields. If you used more search fields some time ago and removed one field from the available search options through admin->Studio this still remains in the data base and you have no chance to get rid of it. To make it more clear here an example: Let's say there was a search field "country" and you did a search for "USA". Later you decided that you don't need that search criteria and removed this field from the search options. You don't see that field now but your search still looks for USA-data only because the setting country=USA is still active (all used search options are stored in the database) ! And if you clear the search fields this has no effect on that unvisible search field ...

    So my question: did you remove one field from the search options, maybe some time ago?

    I do not think I did. Fresh new database. Added some panels, did not delete any before search

    I'd like to see the role settings for your user account. Maybe there is something bad.

    Admin->User Management: Select your user account and then the panel "Access".

    Could you post a screenshot of the settings here and the selection of roles at the bottom of that page?
