    Angry Search and Custom Field Issue

    I am sure this is an easy fix, but I haven't been able to find it on the SugarCRM forum. I added three custom fields to the "account" tab. One is text, one is an integer and the other a date. I can add the three items to the tab and can get it to display. The issue I am having is once I add a custom field, I cannot search on any "name" in the account. I am not even searching on the custom fields. I can search on contacts, but no account name. It always comes up with no "account" listing although I know it exists.

    Windows 2003
    Version 5.2.0 (Build 5380) Community Edition

    Hi Kurt,

    Click the clear button, and then try using the % sign in front of the account name you are trying to search on.

    Also, try to repair the sugar installation after updates, this might help.

    I tried both suggestions and I still am unable to search on an account if I create any type of custom field, whether it is added to a panel or not. Just creating a custom fields seems to "negate" the account search feature. Is there another step after creating a custom field i.e. recompile the database or something for the search feature to work again. If I delete the custom field the search function works fine.

    I have just started using SugarCRM and I am not very technical once you get outside of importing data.

    I am having the same issue with a Sugar 5.1 install.

    All my custom field stop working and the search function are not working even when I did a repair.

    I am also having the same issue and another one.

    In the account module I have created custom fields, saved and I cannot search the fields and also when I input data into the fields- all types (text, date, integer, drop down) , save and then I go back in to edit, all of the data is gone.

    Is this also occurring with your custom fields?

    I am on 5.2 (build 5380)

    Hello Anyone out there. The search functionality Sugar CE seems quite limited.
    It can only search and find a string if you put inthe first word, it does not search after the first word.
    I am new to Sugar, but this should be a very simply thing to do.
    I am trying to sell Sugar to my team for support issues but it has fallen flat on this account.
    Can any one help?

    e.g in the bug list if you hve 10 line of bugs a team member who deals with graphics will just like to search for graphics problems irrespective of where in the description "graphic" has been used.

    Not sure if this will help you all out or not but this is what I found. Check the permissions that your chosen SugarCRM SQL user has on your database. Alter tables is a must when dealing with custom fields , my original set of instructions did not include this grant. If the user has the correct permissions check the data type - both defined and input type.

    Use the % symbol as a wildcard on the field you want to search.

    For example, if you search for "%e%", the results would return any record that contains the letter "e" anywhere in the field.

    Thus, "%graphic%" should yield the results you are looking to return.
