I like using SugarCRM to manage my database of accounts, but now I need to share some of that information with visitors to my Wordpress blog (hosted, not at Wordpress.com).
What would be the best way to go about adding a static page to my blog that would let guests search the SugarCRM Accounts module and see results from their searches without leaving the blog?
I've looked at the SOAP services but I'm no coding guru and cannot seem to find a straightforward tutorial that is both current (will it work with 5.0.0f?) and makes it simple enough for my limited PHP skills. If I go that route, I'd like something that says for example "You'll need these 3 files, and you'll place them in these folders. Replace the variables (servername, user, password) with your info." Also, SOAP books seem to all be from several years ago--is this tech outdated or problematic?
I was considering a straight PHP-coded form with MySQL database queries, but are there any security or performance drawbacks to that approach?
Does anyone know of any other methods for getting at the data and having it displayed in Wordpress? I saw extensions for integrating SugarCRM with other PHP/MySQL apps, but not Wordpress.
Thanks for any advice (except to become a better coder--I'm working on it!)
