Search for Email Address

Hi,

Anybody out there who has an idea how to search in contacts/leads for email addresses? This is important because the bounce handling doesn't work and somehow I must mark my bounces after a campaign. Only chance is to find them by the bounced address. Besides email addresses are very unique and serve very often as identifier and thus as search criteria.
Version is 51a

[edit]: Actually the search field (any email) is there (in an out of the box implementation). But if you remove it from the search layout it's gone for good.
[edit2]: oh man this is bad. The history function doesn't bring it back either but changes the labels - not in the later visible search screen but in studio.
[edit3]: There's already a bug filed (24930) but no resolution yet.

Any of you know a quick fix?
