Search function to include Primary Phone

Hello, I am new to SugarCRM. I have been reading and searching the forums but no avail to one of my issue.

When I do a global search on to top right and put in a phone number or just a beginning area code number it will not return anything even though I have that phone number under a lead. How can I set up so the that the search includes the Primary Phone field?

I had the same question for weeks!

I found the answer in another thread today.

Use a % sign to force a phone number search in the global box.

%675 would find 675-9878 or 555-0675, for example.

Odd I tried putting % and that didnt work for me. it finds them in emails but not the phone field.
I wonder if I am missing something.
