Search Funtion not working properly

Hi,
I'm currently using Sugar 5.0 CE, when I try to search my leads unless I input the exact name it will not come up with anything. For example If i have a record with the company name of Sugar CRM, if I search just sugar nothing comes up. I don't know if that is by design but I find that to be a little to restrictive of a search. Is there a anything that I can do?

Hi,

Which patch version of 5 do you use? However, this looks like an index problem. Try the respective repair function in the admin section.

Thanks for the reply. I have build (Build 3276). I tried repairing the index but it's still doing the same thing. Any other suggestions?

Where do you search? Globally - means on the top right corner of the screen? Or per module? If it's the latter try a "%" as wildcard. So if you look for "superman" enter "sup%" (no quotation marks).
That should be it...

Yes I've already tried the wildcard but it still doesn't work correctly. It's very hit or miss. I can sometimes use it to search names, but I can't search account names at all. Account name is just the business name correct, or does account name only represent those that are accounts? I recently changed the tab of accounts to clients could that have anything to do with it?

No idea what's going on. Maybe you do not empty your search fields before starting a new search? Renaming the tab has nothing to do with it (if you did it in studio).

Having same problem. Wild card does not work.

Neither works? Neither global nor local (simple and advanced in a module)? The only thing I can think of is the database collation. Pls. check the settings there (slim chance though).
Very strange.

I have to admit I was having the same problem. 2 things to try - one, always hit clear before searching. Sugar keeps the last search in memory and only searches those results. two, always use the % before and after; such as %sugar% -that has really seemed to help - otherwise I would NEVER find anything.
