I am always running into search not searching on Sugar more so than any other program.

Along this same line... our GLOBAL search does not work at all. Whenever we enter any criteria.. it comes back with no results. We've tried everything. Ours is a new install of Version 6.1.4 (Build 5822) on a Godaddy virtual Linux server.. I feel like it might be a permissions problem but I have no idea where to start. Thanks for any input!

The partial match works if you input the value between "%". Example: %value%

For partial matches, you don't need a % at the end. %value is the same as %value%.

For your global search, have you looked through your sugarcrm.log for any errors that occur during the search (or any other logs for that matter)? Its obviously not working correctly, and usually those are good places to start to find errors.

And, unfortunately, Sugar already goes through a lot of processing when it does its searches, so functionality like 'Steve' for 'Stephen' is probably not going to be implemented unless you do it yourself. SugarCorp is working on improving the search (they added ranged searches for integer and date fields in 6.2) but it still isn't the best. They do well though; when you look at all the modules and all the information the system is supposed to hold, sometimes you have to cut your losses in favor of faster processing.
