Question Searching by account name in custom module returns no results

I'm having a problem with a few custom modules I've created. They are set up with Many-to-One relationship with the Accounts module.

These modules serve as work slips for 4 different types of manufacturing projects in my company. The Account relationship is vital and being able to search by Account name would make the life of our sales team a lot easier.

The relationship works perfectly the other way around. If I access the accounts module and search for a customer there I can find it without any trouble and view the work slips in the Custom module sub-panel.

Under the custom module list view I can see the Account name attached to that custom module record so I know that the relationship is working, only the search function is not.

Any help would be well appreciated.

My coding skills are average and mostly bound to customizing. I've been googling this problem and I'm not sure if any of the search results is the right one but if anyone can confirm a known result and post a link it would also be well appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

We would need to know what version of SugarCRM you are running to really help.

Also if you go to 'System Settings' on the admin menu and change the log level to 'info' (at the bottom of System Settings) and then go and search for an account and then capture the sugarcrm.log file from your server and send that to us it might help.

    Hi kbrill.

Thank you for responding to my post.

I'm running version 6.0.2 (Build 4217) Open Source version on ubuntu server.
I've attached a stripped version of the sugarcrm.log file which includes data from after I started the INFO loggin instead of FATAL.

I've been messing around a bit and I found a quirk to get around the bug but it's not user friendly.

When typing the Account name in the relationship field it shows me a short list of similar items until enough characters have been entered and I find the right one to select. If I select it from the list I receive No data.

If I access the search panel for the Accounts relationship field and search there for the correct account, select it and search the custom module I receive no data.

If I complete one unsuccessful searches (listed above) and then use the clear button marked X on the right hand side of Accounts relationship field in the custom module and then enter the search again without selecting it from the list I'm able to find the records.

Thanks again for being willing to help.

I am pretty sure this was a bug in 6.0.2 (#40353 or 40287), I am afraid the answer might be to upgrade to a more recent version. It looks like both of these are fixed in 6.1.x (certainly 6.1.6)

    Hi Kenneth.

Thanks for taking the time to help me. I'll try an upgrade in a test-environment and hope it works

UPDATE: The upgrade solved the problem
