Select Users from contacts list

I have a list of company employees in the contact module. Is there a way I can select them when adding users to roles?

HI Andre,

We are using contacts to store company employees, some of these employees are on the help desk, others in sales. For them to use Sugar, they need be users, who are connected to roles. So instead of creating users, as they already exist in Sugar as a contact, I want to connect the users to a role..
Hope it makes sense...

Maybe there is another way?

Hi, Spiro

The ACLRoles module has a specific behavior and it widely affect all SugarCRM functionalities, so it is not viable to add Contacts to a Role.
But you could do the following steps:

1. Create a custom field into Users module which relate to Contact
2. Create a custom field checkbox into Contact module, which tells a new user will be created from this new contact.
3. Create a logic_hook before_save into Contacts module, which is called even a new contact is saved with the checkbox checked.

This way you can sync a Employee to User in way you can add into a role the user related to a given contact.
You could also manager inside which role a contact is.
