Send Error with emails

We are using Sugar CRM 4.5.1i with Apache and MySQL running on Win 2003 server.

One of our issue at the moment is that some mails are not sent out (I must say relayed), this is about 30% of the total amout of e-mails.

In the sent emails we can see a status of "send error". Editing and clicking send sometime works, sometime not...

This is very confusing to me.
email settings are correct otherwise none of our e-mail would be sent out...

how shall I proceed to point the real problem ? (time-out or whatever)
Does anyone else have hitten a similar problem ?

I have found the root cause of the problem.

The mail server used for relaying email has some anti-spam settings. One of them is the delay before answering an incoming connection. Basically, this value was set to 30sec ans it is definitely to high for Sugar which gets some time-out when trying to relay emails.
I did implement a rule protecting private IP addresses from SPAM filtering.

Hello Jerome,

It may also be possible to specify a timeout on the Sugar side. If not, this would be a nice feature to add (so people don't need to adjust their spamfilter settings).
