Default 'Send Test' Button in email sent 'actual' target list?

    Hi everyone,

We had a bit of a strange issue today (Sugar 5.0.0i CE, LAMP), where we somehow managed to send out an email campaign accidently. The issue is that the leads on a target list (set as default) were somehow emailed when the 'Send Test' button was sent out. The actual test email didn't seem to go out. The content of the email was fine, it's just that when you click 'Send Test' the string '[Test]' is appended into the front of the subject line.

We have sent out approx 20 campaigns using this method, and this has not happened before.

As far as I'm aware, this should not happen. Any ideas chaps?

    Hello,

I have never heard of this happening before and didn't see any bugs reported. The most likely answer is that there was a user error, especially since you have never had any issues before. Have you customized the module at all or installed any plugins recently since your last campaign?

    There's a golden rule of Campaigns ....

ALWAYS set the scheduled send date in the marketing email header to a date far in the future.

That way. until you're absolutely sure that your Campaign is good to go, any errors/send by mistakes get caught by the message queue. Once it's good to go, then enter an actual scheduled date and time.

And I agree with SugarCane ... I suspect it's been a user error.

same here. There were (and are) all kinds of bugs and strange behaviours but the only thing that always worked (God thanks) was the test.
In addition to what sugacane said: Check the test list that was supposed to go out and then the real one. Does the latter say "standard" as type and the former "test"? Maybe somebody messed with it?

Greg: if he f... with the type the date settings won't help him. Tests go out irrespective of any date set...

Hello chaps, sorry I haven't replied to my own thread! A few other things got in the way and took priority you see. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to answer them in order.

@sugarcane - I don't think it was user error. The Test and Actual target lists have not been modified (i.e changed type). As the Install is on a production environment, no releases (changes or plugin's) have been commited in the last few months.

@salesagility (hello again chap!) - We do follow that rule sort of, however there's no automation of the emails going out until I say so and press the button. The schedulers are turned off until were absolutely ready like you say. I noticed a small error in the email, so the emails were actually sitting in the message queue, which i then promptly deleted.

@roblaus - Yeah the test and actual target lists were set to 'test' and 'default' respectively, as I said earlier, these were not modified at any point.

All in all it's a bit of mystery at present, I was just hoping that perhaps someone had seen a similar kind of behaviour. Thanks for your input guys, perhaps it's just a case of looking again at our control procedures.
