    Default Sendmail works, sort of...

I am using 4.2.0 and I am trying to get a campaign fired off using sendmail. The emails are working, if they are sent to an external email address. I can send my test campaign at will. When attempting to send to some of my internal users, the emails never arrive. I am only using sendmail for campaigns, i use exchange for domain email.

The error in the sendmail log is unable to relay. ?

Why is sendmail even trying to relay, I just want these emails send out like all of the rest?

I am a sendmail newbie and any assistance that you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Well, sendmail is indeed a complicated beast, so it's probably a configuartion entry.

The easiest way around it is to use your ISPs smart host, and bypass sendmail altogether :-)

However, being practical, that's probably not what you want to hear, so post me some more details about your setup and i'll try and give you some advice... for instance, is your sendmail server on the same machine as your Sugar installation or on a different box?

You are correct. Sendmail, Linux, Sugar, same box. Redhat 9.3, sugar 4.2.0. I think I may have found the issue, in the /etc/mail/access file to get the relay for intermal emails giong, I have made changes to the access file that do not appear to have worked, then again I have not used makemap previously. Any suggestions there?

    Thanks

    Update.

I modified /etc/mail/access and then ran

    makemap hash /etc/mail/access < /etc/mail/access

then, I restarted sendmail and no dice. relay error persists.

Actually, to be honest I would prefer not to relay and just send the 2-3 email that go internally out with all the rest of them. They can come back through via exchange, whenever, as long as they get here.
