I'm running SugarCRM version 4.2.0d with around 30 accounts and perhaps 100 activities. When I log in (as admin) and view the homepage with Projects, Tasks, Appointments, Emails, Leads, Opportunities, Bugs and Cases displayed, none of which have any content, the page generation time is between 1.5 and 2 seconds.
The server is fedora core 5 (fc5) on VMWare on Windows XP with 250Mb of RAM assigned and a Celeron 2.x GHz CPU. Sure, it's not a fast machine, but I get the same performance on my laptop, running fc5, Pentium M 1GHz, 1Gb RAM.
I've read a few of the 3 page plus threads on performacne and optimisation. I don't believe it's a database issue, mySQL is running extremely fast on both machines. I'm not looking for a multipage discussion here, if anyone has any specific suggestions to improve performance, please post them here. Alternatively, if you feel SugarCRM will never perform, I'm equally keen to hear that and start looking for an alternative.
I've read suggestions that InnoDB is faster. Does that make a difference to the time required by PHP to process responses from mySQL? I'm happy with our mySQL performance as it stands.
Thanks in advance for any input.
CM.
