session timeout solution not clear

Hello,

I have read several posts regarding the issue of controlling the session timeout issue - i was working on a note yesterday that I had open for a little while - i estiamte 40 minutes - i went to save it - and i was thrown back to the login screen.

My client was experiencing this issue on their install of sugar (5.0.0c) and i had previously been looking for a solution - but it had not happened to me ---- so I was back looking at the solution again.

I can see that php.ini is where this is controlled - but ideally I do not want to have the setting changed server-wide.

I run many joomla installations - and in the admin control panel for joomla - there is a setting for front and backend session lives.

If i have to - I will change the PHP.ini file - but would rather not as stated above - so is there a way of doing this within the root of the sugar install - that is upgrade safe.

I see that someone had done something with .htaccess file - but other application on the server can override this .htaccess setting and rendered it useless.

Would you be willing to share this with the community? I need to have the ability to set the session timeout for Sugar and not my whole server as this would affect all of my clients as well.
