Question Setting up Bitrock SugarCRM 4.5.0c vs MySQL

    Hello folks,

Can anyone please help with the following?

I like the ease of BitRock installer - the system can be setup in minutes. Anyway - the installer installs MySQL even though MySQL is already running on the machine.

    (1) Is it possible to install BitRock SugarCRM into the existing installation of MySQL?

    (2) Alternatively, is it possible to use BitRock installer if Microsoft SQL Server 2000 is already installed and ready to be used?

Also, please notice that even though v4.5.0c BitRock SugarCRM installer contains MySQL 5.0.24, diagnostic.zip (attached) file contains a different information - MySQL Version: 3.23.49. Any idea why this is happening / a bug?

Here's the config of my server machine:
    OS: Windows XP SP2
    SugarCRM: v4.5.0c BitRock (sugarcrm-bitrock-4.5.0c-windows-installer.exe)
Webserver: Apache?? (the one that comes with BitRock)
PHP: v4.4.3?? (the one that comes with BitRock)
MySQL: v5.0.24?? (the one that comes with BitRock)

That's it. If you have an answer I would very much welcome if you could share it. All the best,

    Martin

With the bitrock installer, it's all or nothing.
However, if you've already got MySQL working, then it shouldn't be too hard to get Apache and Php running as well. After that, the SugarCRM installation normally goes quite easily.

Thanks Daniel for this. By "installation normally goes" do you mean a BitRock installation or are you referring to manual installatrion? Cheers,

    Martin

    The manual installation.
It's fairly easy to set up Apache/PHP and there are a "gajillion" guides out there to follow.
Once Apache/PHP (sounds like you already have MySQL configured) are up and running, then the sugar installation is a breeze.

    Hi Daniel,

yes, correct, MySQL is set up already. I never tried Apache/PHP before but I guess I'll give it a shot. Thanks for helping!
