Default "The mail account may not have been saved"

When I try to set up an mail account using settings I get the following response:
"The mail account may not have been saved" and indeed the mail account cannot be set up. The test settings however were successful. What can be wrong? Can anybody help?

Thanks for your reply. I tried both protocols, neither of them makes a difference. Like I said the test works, but then the account cannot be registered and the error messages show up. What am I doing wrong?

I also have this issue showing up. I had a clean install without error. I have tried to load email account settings for an email service running on which functions with MS Outlook. When I load the settings using mail.domain.com etc. I get an affirmative result (don't know what it is testing?) that the settings work, however the application will not allow the information to be committed when I click on save. I get the same error as above "The mail account may not have been saved" . I do not believe my file permissions are the source of error. Before I spend much more time on this I am wondering if this issue has been dealt with before in another thread?

I have been looking forward to 5.0,

I have also had this problem, here is the workaround that found. Once you attempt to save and the error window pops up and says the the mail account may not have be saved I press save a second time, the second time it always saves. Then on the left when I look at the monitored mail boxes, 2 will always appear after the second save. I then highlight only one of the two and I delete it. Now I only have one remaining. It's frustrating, but it does work. My system is a clean install hosted on Siteground.

I can confirm what chriswright says. That's what works for us as well. I'm using on-site against Exchange server 2003 IMAP.

Second save works and then you have to delete one of the email boxes and recheck mail.

I'm still seeing this in 5.1.0b, though unfortunately the workaround does not help. Every time I click "Save" I get the "may not have been saved" error. Has anyone identified the cause of this problem?

Unhappy Re: setting up email account fails

I have the same problem with 5.1.0c (Build 4979).

I tried to setup my Gmail account using IMAP SSL, i have the settings correct like on the Gmail-info page is stated. Testing just freezes and saving is impossible.

What is most frustrating is that Sugar doesn't give some sort of error-message, even if i enable full debug-logging it leaves me in the dark.. :-(

The only sensible info i get from the .log file is:

    [DEBUG] 1: I-E testing string: {imap.gmail.com:993/service=imap/ssl/tls/validate-cert/secure}INBOX

    Has someone enabled Gmail Imap?

    Best regards...
