Post Setting up our users in the project module

We are having trouble setting up resources ( our internal employee users) in the Project module.

For Instance in the Gantt grid.. there are no users in the Resources drop down.

Please advise how we can configure a number of users for a project and then assign
them selectively to tasks.. (and keep time).

Do we need to use teams for this? Teams are set to Global now.

Related question: How do we do design work on the Gantt grid.. it does not seem to show up in Studio

    Many thanks, Steve

As far I know on sugar project tasks could be asisgned just to one resource.
And is not trivial update/customize the gantt chart. You have to do it coding without high level tools.

A suggestion which I can do, is to create a relationship between project tasks and users, and then assign users to this project task. The users do not appear on gantt but the relation is made, and it could be enough depending of goal.

Post Re: Setting up our users in the project module

Appreciate the useful info.. I'm surprised to
hear that the default setup is one resource per project task..

Are there any plugins or extensions that make it
easier to assign multiple users to a Project Task?

    Thanks much,, Steve

    Hi Steve,

I don't know if there is any plugin to extend this feature, I think is needed to develop it manually.
But as we know sugar is a CRM tool, not a project management tool.
What I suggest is maybe try to use some external project management tool, like dotProject (which is PHP/MySQL) based, and then just integrate the sugar/dotProject projects with some scheduled task.

Then on dotProject (or some other PM tool) you can select many resources per project tasks and also have many other PM features to plan, monitor and control your project which sugar will not provide, because PM is not it focus.
