    Default setting up outbound email

Hi. I'm new to SugarCRM and have it installed and working on a Win2003 server. I can get inbound email but can't send outbound email. I have a POP email account that I usually set up using their pop and smtp server (my ISP). I don't see much documentation about outbound email for users. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

You can use SMTP for outbound email for either users or for individual campaigns. It doesn't jump out at you. On the mail panel there is a check box for routing outbound mail. Once you check that, the form shows boxes to put the SMTP information.

    Hi,
I'ce correctly and completely set up the SMTP options in both the Admin and My Account areas of the SugarCRM suite, but am still unable to send email.
All messages in the sent box show a "SEND ERROR" under the Type and Status columns.

I do notice there is no option for SSL (or STARTTLS), and I am using a gmail account, which requires this.
I must assume this is the issue, unless SugarCRM provides secure socket layers by default.

Any advice is appreciated in advance.

    Cheers.

    Hi Antonio,

For sendiing emails you can use sendmail.

For configuring SugarCRM for outbound email using Gmail account, follow the steps here: http://sugarcrm.openapp.org/?p=159

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

I must be blind but where can I find this when sending a campaign? I know where to set it up for my personal account but not for campaigns

    Regards,
I already tried that, in both the Admin and My Account areas, and all it does is give me a send error message in both the Type and Status columns of the Sent Mail page.
Thanks anyhow; I understand the most basic fix is the one first recommended.

I understand this is an ongoing issue, and I hope they fix it soon.
I'm really enjoying this software, otherwise. It installs readily on top of my previously installed server setup, and Zend Platform updated my Apache and PHP installs (and gives you the choice of whether or not it updates). I enjoy the how lean this keeps things, as well as the level of control it affords over what is installed to begin with.
Zimbra doesn't seem to like my computer and just plain refuses to work.

Any idea if this will be fixed in a new release of sugar? I have the same problem with my gmail account and am using sendmail to get around it. Thanks, Jesse
