    Default Settings for sending assignment notification

    Hi,

    I want to notify my team member whenever a bug is assigned to him. Right now, I am able to send mails from Sugar but no notifications is sent when some record is assigned to someone. Also, I can send mails only to a non-corporate id like yahoo gmail and others. But I am not able to send any mail to any corporate id (abc@company_name.com).

    Can someone give me some insight please?

    Hello,

    I forgot to add one thing. When I try to send a mail to a team mate's id (corporate id), sugar's sent mail list shows me status as Sent. But the person does not receive any mail.

    Suggestions invited.

    I don't see any reason why an email will go to gmail id and not on other id. The only thing can be suggested is check your server's log and you may find the reason why it is not being delivered.

    Be sure to turn on notifications from the Admin->System Settings screen.

    The email-not-being-received issue sounds like something with your mail server setup.

    Hello,

    The notifications were turned ON by default in the individual user account as well as in Admin -> Email Settings.

    Now, I am able to send mails to any address (God knows what I have done, but it worked.) Now I have the same above mentioned problem with notification. Here is the scenario:

    I have 2 user accounts namely "Sagar1" and "Sagar2" (both admin) with email addresses as sagarladdha@gmail.com and sagar_laddha@persistent.co.in respectively.

    I log in with Sagar2 and assign a bug to Sagar1. I get an email notification on my gmail address. Now I login with Sagar1 and assign a bug to Sagar2. But no notification is received on my sagar_laddha@persistent.co.in. Instead, I get an email failure notification in my gmail account. Here is the text in the failure notification:

    "<=?ISO-8859-1?Q?sagar=5Fladdha=40persistent=2Eco=2Ein?=@perput o3.inetu.net>:
    Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. vpopmail (#5.1.1)"

    Suggestions invited.

    I really have not got one thing. What is the need to fill up the Inbound, Outbound and Email Options sections in the User's form. I mean wouldn't it be OK if I just fill up the email address field? I think it should be a simple automated mail sending system which sends mail at a particular email address. So, if we use that analogy, then we really don't need to write anything in these sections because when I go to the Emails tab, and send a mail to some address, I get the mail properly irrespective of the domain. Then why should I specify the Inbound Outbound settings (I am not using SugarEmail Client I view my mails in browser or Outlook).

    Explanations please.

    I forgot to mention this. The current settings in Sagar1 and Sagar2 are the same with the only difference being the email address. All the fields are blank except the following;

    Email address: As mentioned above
    MTA: sendmail

    Also, if I change the email address in Sagar2 to sagar.laddha@yahoo.com, then it works. The only problem is with my company id.

    Someone please explain me the meaning of all the fields in the Inbound and Outbound settings sections and how should I set them? (Also, why should I set them)?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,

    This is going to sound very stupid but tha is something which is happening here. The email notifications are sent only to people whose email addresses does not have an "UNDERSCORE (_)". I was puzzled when this thought came to my mind, but then I discussed this issue with Mr. Rob Lackey, Manager of Information Technology, SugarCRM and confirmed the same. He is of the same opinion.

    If anyone has this thing working, I mean notifications to users having an underscore in their email addresses, please let me know.

    Regards
