    Default Shared Office/Network Setup

My office has a shared Internet connection and network with the 2 other businesses in the building. I don't have any control over the network and I'm not even sure what to tell the landlord we need in order to get SugarCRM accessible for our remote users. Of course, we can access internally by logging in with: 192.168.1.x (the IP assigned to the server via DHCP). I know I can assign an IP in the 192.168.1 range, but this won't give our remote users access.

Is the only way to have a static IP assigned to the server hosting Sugar or is there a way around this? All machines come up with the same IP when checked on whatismyip.com (the single IP assigned by the cable company).

Will we need to get our own Internet connection? Since Internet is included in our monthly lease cost, I would hate to have to pay for our own connection.

    Help is appreciated!

Presumably you're behind a router. The private network numbers (198.162.x.x) are behind the router and you have a dynamic public IP addy assigned by the ISP.

The easiest way to handle this is to get a domain name (mybusiness.com or whatever) that points to your dynamic public IP. http://www.dyndns.com/ offers such a free service with a few URLs that you can choose from. This way your external users just have to bookmark the domain name and access your system that way. DynDNS.com has lots of help in setting it up.

The router then needs to be told to forward that traffic to the machine that hosts Sugar.

Yeah, the only other option would be to host SugarCRM outside your office. I have a relative that runs it on his home connection (a cable connection) and his offices uses that becuase they are in the same boat you are and their landlord wouldnot allow them to alter the Routers configuration.
