Default Should I set everything to UTF-8 or what?

Been getting a lot of errors.

Was wondering if using UTF-8 would fix a lot of my problems?

    What does the SugarTeam suggest?

I would like my emails to stop killing all the images tags.

    Hi

It would help if you would explain what errors you are getting.
IMHO 4.5.0f has issues when trying to send emails as non UTF
that contain record coming form the database which are UTF.

So if this is your problem setting email encoding to UTF can fix this.

Modern email clients can parse UTF-8 pretty well, but for the average user, it may not go so smoothly. That being said, Outlook (2000+), all OSX mail clients, Thunderbird, and all the email clients I've tested in linux can read UTF-8 just fine.

The OP's problem is not related to character sets though - inline images are a to-do for SugarCRM, and coincidently is in my queue. It's a pretty major change so it will likely show up in 4.5.1.

    Hi Chris,

    Thanks for the answer.

The reason I ask is just from reading all the errors people are having in Sugar regarding email it seems to me from my casual glance that character encoding is partly responsible.

Is turning on UTF 8 as simple as just going into admin or do I need to crack open the config.php file as well?

    Thanks,

Each user is allowed a character set definition (2 actually, one for exports and the other for outbound email). Both are found in the "My Account" edit view.

The email character set is found in the Emails section of the above.

I'm having trouble importing contacts with UTF-8 character encoding. I've set the character set to UTF-8 in the My Account section for exporting and emails. I've set it everywhere as the default character set. All the details are in my post here
    http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20770

Is there a way to set the default import character set as UTF-8?
