Side Bar / Quick Add Bar

I just recently installed SugarCRM Community Edition Version 6.2.0RC3 (Build 6350). Its been a while since I dealt with SugarCRM and I remember there being a quick add / side bar feature. This is where you can add a quick item based off the tab your on, like a quick contact or quick opp. The default install and theme do not show it, is it possible to add this back to the theme/interface. Is it an option in the settings or a php modification?

There is a quick add bar on sugar PRO, com CE there is not.

As far I remember until 5.2x version there was a side bar for quick create for the current selected module, but as I also noticed it was remove in the 6.x CE versions.

I don't if there is some module/theme which you can install to provide this feature back to sugar CE, but maybe someone else knows.

But I have I hint, if you want to program it, you could try to configure the list.view.php file for the desired modules to accomodate this feature.

Am I the only one who thinks a left side bar with vertical listing of referenced actions makes more sense than having it as a third horizontal bar of links?

a) Screens are widescreen and I find there's much too much space horizontally using SugarCRM.
b) having three rows of links (modules, recent activity, and related actions) over each other is not good design.

Any thoughts?

I'm new to sugar and not a developer, so i most likely won't get around to coding anything like this. I'm simply amazed, that no-one seems to think this is a design no-go.

I am using the 6.3 Pro version and am not seeing any options for a side bar either. i definitely find this to be a usability issue and a waste of horizontal space.
