Simple reminders (not for meetings)

I want to be able to set reminders on certain dates.

Eg: So on the 5th of December my Sugar calender says "Rego Due!" somewhere on it... or when phone bills are due, for anniversaries (that one would be nice to keep me out of trouble).

I can't see to find a way to do it, the only options are for meetings and phone calls?

Any ideas?
