    Default SMTP Mailer not sending mail

    I've searched through the forums a bit to see if someone has a related issue, but haven't located any.

    The symptom is the following:
    POP3 mail works (i.e. all inbound mail configured is working great with valid settings.)
    Sending mail does not work. There are no error messages generated that I can see.

    SMTP Settings are configured per account:
    example:
    username: example@example.com
    password: example
    use SMTP Authentication - Checked
    SMTP Server - smtp.examplehost.com

    Telneting to smtp.examplehost.com 25 functions FROM the web server, so the port is not blocked.
    Sending email via telnet functions correctly and email is retrieved via pop3 correctly.

    Have tested sending email both internally (i.e. on the same domain) and externally (i.e. @gmail.com) and those do not work from within Sugar (I'm using Sugar Version 5.1.0 (Build 4732)).

    I have enabled debugging, but saw zero errors thrown by SugarPHPMailer.

    Is there a step that i'm missing in configuring mail?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Post a diagnostic file from your system (or email it to me at kbrill@sugarcrm.com). Also we always need to know which version of SugarCRM you are running and it would be good to know if this stopped working or has never worked.

    Hi ,

    facing the same issue with sending emails with smtp. Installed 5.1. Inbound emails work fine. However trying to send outbound email will not show any error in log file, but didnt sent emails most of the time. The funny thing is, sometimes it works, even without changing anything in email config. But in 90% of the cases the email is not sent. Im quite cueless about what the issue is, because there is no entry in log file (error level)????

    Who can help me?

    just found what might be the issue: Once I saved the entry in the outbound section of the email configuration tab, sometimes the system simply forgets the saved entry and points back to the sentmail standard entry. Looks like there is something wrong with the "save email config" funktion.

    Anyone out there who has the same issue?

    I am working with SugarCommunity Edition v5.1.0 (Build 4732).

    It appears that this issue is resolved with me. I'm not sure what I did to fix it either.

    I am running into another problem now though dealing with group users but will post that up as a seperate question.

    For those that still have this issue, check the following:
    1.) Your username may need to be: user@domain.com
    2.) Make sure you are using the right domain for SMTP, in my case this was mail.domain.com
    3.) Try logging out, and then logging back in.

    After many hours over weeks of trying to locate solutions for personal IU Mail in 5.0.0e and 5.1.0 I have concluded that this feature is not stable. I have sought input from numerous posts on this forum and none have solved the problem of a personal email setup in IU Email setup of not being able to open emails. The emails download fine but when they are opened only reveals subject of "message removed from server". In fact the message has not been removed from server. This is a flaw in 5.0.0e and 5.1.0 that I have evaluated. I regressed to version 4.5.1 and all works fine. I am writing this to assist others should they be struggling with same issue so that they may not waist the many hours that I have to discover that versions 5.0.0e and 5.1.0 are not usable for personal emails.

    Hi Everyone,

    I had the same issue until i realised that i needed to install openssl along with php, once i installed that on php, everything worked like a charm.
