Soap Help

Hello, currently on our site we keep our login contacts in the Contacts Module.
All I have at the time of login is their email and their password which is stored in a custom field.
Is there a way to do a search on the Contacts email address via Soap? I know you can call get_entry but you have to have the ID in order for that to work.

OK, I figured it out. I added a few fields to the "select" option. How can Iread the values coming back from the select ??
