Some REALLY Basic Qs

Hi All,

I am working at very small start up technology company and we are looking at SugarCRM Open Source due to some issues with the team addition of salesforce.com. I wld appreciate feedback on the following very basic Qs:

1. Security on the Open Source version -- can someone pls provide a basic description of how it's implemented and how strong the security is?
2. Are there milits on how many users are supported in the Open Source version?
3. Outlook connection -- I know there are add ons, but it looks like I can attach emails to/from outlook with SugarCRM -- is this accurate?
4. Any real gotchas that I shld know about?

Hi gregb,

I'll try to answer some of these but someone more qualified will probably correct me.

1) Security on the OS version is the same as the Pro/Ent versions as they all share the exact same code. It's session based security with the password saved as a hash in the database. Entry points are defined so that a user can't directly access a page even if logged in unless it has been defined as an entry point.

2) Unlimited number of users supported.

3) Not sure how this piece works but this is supported whether it's built in or through an add-on.

4) We started using Sugar as a small startup type a couple of years ago and as our growth has exploded so has Sugar and it's ability to not only keep up but even help lead our growth further.
