Some users very slow, others are fine??

I have been using Sugar open source for a few years now and this is the first time I have not been able to find my answer by searching the forums.

I currently have a hosted site and it seems that I do not have the permissions to edit the php.ini files in order to allow the update to any version past 4.5.1e. apache 2 php 5 mysql 5.0.45 on Linux. however the upgrade issue is not the most important. I am interested in moving to a host that can help me transfer this site to v5.

the database has about 30,000 contacts and almost as many accounts and about 200 custom fields (only about 50 of them are in use now, but at times we add others to reference past years) There has recently been a rash of a few users (one of them a principle in the company) that are having gruelingly slow page access issues, simply clicking on a contact to schedule a call can take minutes it it even gets to the page at all without timing out. other users are fine even if they log in on the same computer. it is clearly a user issue and I have no idea how to troubleshoot it. if there is anyone that has any ideas I would be very grateful and if there is anyone that would like to help upgrade and cleanup the database I am sure that I can manage a small budget.

It has some specifics on browser configuration and Firefox vs IE, etc.

You might also look at clearing the browser cache and temporary internet files. These are kept per user. If a lot of files have built up it can slow things down.

I have tried clearing the cache and until i read the article linked I had not tried IE I will have the problem users try it. Also I have installed the fasterfox and i can certainly notice improvements. Thanks for the quick responses, any other ideas? Also any developers or implementors out there want a small upgrade and cleanup job?

Also, the user having issues while logged onto his computer, logged out of sugar and logged in with someone else's account and there was no issue, again eliminating the local hardware and/or software as the issue.
