Default Speed issues for users who aren't Admin

    HI there,

We have 40 users on Sugar pro 5.0b. Setup details aren't really that important with what I am about to ask.

Basically, we've been having speed issues with normal users since the beginning. People reporting 20-30 seconds waits, sending us (IT people) the links and things they have been doing and we get 2-3 second waits. Strange.

So today one of the IT people was onsite and on a whim, gave one of the most vocal complainers an upgrade to admin status. Pure joy. Angels sang, kittens purred and the sun shone. All of a sudden her page build times were way down.

Any idea why this would be? Where in the app layer could the admin setting allow things to be quicker? Something at the query level (doubtful?) Something in Sugar somewhere? Any ideas?

Looks like we may try having a handful "go admin" for a few days and see what happens.

    LOL (kittens purred/angels sing)

What were they accessing in Sugar when they experienced the slowness?

Do you have any custom fields defined on that module?

Are the users part of a role?

Does the role restrict their view of that module's records?

    Thanks for the reply Angel.

They were working with Opportunities and Leads, each having a significant volume of calls (say, 5-8 history, 1-2 activities).

We do have custom fields on those modules, and the users are part of a role, however it doesn't restrict anything. They were originally supposed to restrict the view of some things, but in the end we dropped that. Now roles only restrict things like exporting and deleting.

I wonder if we should try dropping the roles... Thanks a lot we may try that tomorrow for a couple of users. Hopefully we can get more kittens purring

So we have tested letting our sales people all have "Admin" level access, and they are reporting a Huuuge gain in speed and performance from Sugar.

In fact this is the first time I've had a call from them and heard them say it was "Fast".

Can anyone chime in as to why this may be possible? Is there some sort of extra layer of logic a normal user has to go thru?
