Standardize phone input masks

I import leads and accounts from different sources with different phone formats. When importing I need to mask the phone numbers to match the existing scheme, i.e. 123-456-7890 instead of 1234567890.
Also, is there a way to create an input mask for data entry in the phone field?

Do you use any programming tool that is table centric to munge your data ?

I use Visual FoxPro to munge the data prior to inserting via odbc to the mySql instance/tables

But - you could also use VFP to munge the data, then create a csv file for manual importing.

What tools do you use?
