Thread: Strange problem with Contact Activities. Help please?

    Question Contact history not showing up in Account? Clarified, please help?

    Hi,

    I've found a problem in the build of Sugar we are using (Version 5.5.1RC2 (Build 1175)).

    This has been reported by all my users and I verified it wasn't a SUE (or Stupid User Error).

    The Problem occurs when you enter a comment on a call for a Contact, then relate the call to the parent Account.

    Here is how I get there:
    I edit a call (Activity) that was created for a Contact.
    In the call, I populate the "Related to" to the parent Account
    I save the call
    When I view the Contact, I see the call in History.
    When I view the Account it isn't there (even after a refresh).

    Has anyone else experienced this or can suggest a course of action?

    Just a quick thought... Are you sure the field is getting set/changed?

    Sometimes people think that a relate-to field is being set properly, but if you type/click too quickly then the autofill functionality doesn't have time to set the field/id. That autofill can be annoying if you are too quick for it.

    However, that wasn't it. I verified it myself. I actually went to "search" and made positive I selected the correct Account to associate the Contact note with. It still didn't associate the contact's note with the Account's Notes..

    Well, here's a couple of other thoughts and things to check. Go into Studio and make sure that the relationship that you are trying to create actually exists. Also, if you upgraded recently, I'd search thru the bugs to see if anyone has experienced the same problem/issue. Good luck. Jeff

    I searched all my relationships and every thing seems to be in order.

    An additional piece of information...

    Original Problem
    When I am in Contact and create a Call, then associate the call to the Account, the history of the call ONLY shows up in the Contact's History.


    New Information
    When I am in Contact and create a meeting, then associate that meeting to Account, the history shows up in both Contact and Account

    Also...
    When I am in Account and create a Call, then associate the call to the Contact, the history of the call shows up in both Contact and Account

    Just a quick question. Do you need to relate an Account to that call. normally if you create the call in the contact activity it is automatically linked to his account.

    We do not have this problem. My wish is to relate the call also to an opportunity and a Project but it can only be related to one of this records.

    Yes, we are in the "Edit Contact" view, and relate the call to the Account.

    The Notes show the call in the Contact, but not the Account.

    Are you saying this operation (as presented in my original post) stores the history in both the Account and Contact?

    If so, what version of Sugar are you using?
