Default Studio changes effect my ability to view contacts

    Hi
I'm Newbe with SugarCRM but have a DB/Unix/Linux technical background

I have made a few small changes to the contact fields (i.e. two new fields and one drop down list) using Studio and have then changed some of the views all specific to contacts to show the changes I have made.

The views look fine and I am able to add new records which I can see from MySQL but I cannt search for contacts or see my original contact list - I have tried this as admin and as my own user Paul and I cannot see or search the contact list, I can however view contacts from tasks or historic views. I kow the data is there a relatively safe I am just struggling to view them when searching.
I must have done something stupid but I have no idea what do I need to run some kind of sanity check against the changes?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
SugarCRM community edition 5.2.0d Build 5604
    MySQL V8.1 Dist 5.022

    Thanks in advance

Now, at the great danger of treating you like an idiot, from experience of supporting new client users, when you can't find something in a ListView, it's usually because the search queries persist.

Have you hit the "Clear" button on the search panel?

    Thanks for your response

I have tried that and changed the Basic search view back to the original in case the drop down list I created was causing a search error - should the 'my contacts' list not be populated all the time anyway from the Home screen?

I have also restarted, logged in and out numerous times - restarted my server apps (mysql, php and apache)
Other things I have tried are checking the new fields were not compulsory (in case trying to retieve data with an unset compulsory field was a problem) tried various other users created a new contact from my original user which is still not visible any other ideas

What I have done myself to resolve this
I do not recommend this unless you have like me failed to backup the DB before making changes in which case you should roll back to your previous version - Note - this is potentially dangerous to you database and smooth running of SugarCRM follow these insructions at you own risk - I am a newbie with Sugar CRM so thee is a large risk that I have completely upset the data or the way forms communicate with Sugar - techy peple feel free to make comments on damage this could cause it all sees to be fine now but I am not 100% sure there isn't unwanted leftovers I havent fixed

Firstly I took a backup of the SugarCRM (found in the admin screens) and MySQLDB

Then I manually deleted the new screens I had created (they were all Contact related screens) which I found in the directory below - the reason I deleted these was so that Sugar is not trying to display fields which no loger exist after the next stage.

    /var/www/crm/SugarCE-Full-5.2.0d/custom/history/modules/Contacts/metadata

Then I returned to Sugar CRM and removed all the new field I had created - these are fairly obvious as they are displayed in a section of the screen above the 'default' field under the Contacts 'fields' tab

I then for safety returned to the Admin main screen and selected the 'Repair' option in an attempt to clean up any mess I had inadvertantly created.
    I then selected
    Quick Repair and Rebuild
    Repairi Database
and all the cache clearing options

    Job Done

This seems to have worked successfully - although not by the book my systems now runs fine again

That's what I do not think.

Please look to the WIKI article http://www.sugarcrm.com/wiki/index.p...sions_on_Linux if you want your customisations run in a LINUX system.

It is very important to set the mod and owner settings according to your own system defaults.
