Studio Layout, Edit View and Search form not working

Version : 4.5.0f (Build 1202)
PHP 5.1.4
MSSQL : 2005 STD


Is anybody experiencing strange results with editing screen layouts in Studio.

When trying to change either “Edit View” or “Search Form” for any module, screen does not update with the correct layout, always seems to be Detail View??
List View does not seem to be affected

I have tried a flush fresh installed and still getting the same results.

Can you awnser the following questions for me:

1) was this sugarcrm deployment/installation installed from the 450f installation package?
Or was it a previous version in which was upgraded to 450f?

2) Which web browser or browsers were you using when experiencing the problems?

3) Has it previously worked?
And if it has previously worked, has there been any version change since then, i.e. Sugar upgrade/update(s)?

4) Which specific Views, and/or modules, are you experiencing this?

5) And the most important of all questions... Have you created ANY custom fields in the module in which you're having the Studio difficulties?

A. New installation with full package using 4.5.0f.

2) Which web browser or browsers were you using when experiencing the problems?

A. Tested with IE6.0 + SP2, Firefox 2.0.

3) Has it previously worked?
And if it has previously worked, has there been any version change since then, i.e. Sugar upgrade/update(s)?

A. Never worked.

4) Which specific Views, and/or modules, are you experiencing this?

A. I require this functionality on Contacts and Accounts modules therefore have tested on these, but also tested on others and receiving the same results.

5) And the most important of all questions... Have you created ANY custom fields in the module in which you're having the Studio difficulties?

A. I carried out a fresh install, added a test custom field so I could add to layout, tried selecting “Edit View” & “Search View” and received the same results.


For further investigation I have recorded the HTTP transactions for the following actions.

1. Selecting “Edit layout” for contacts module.
2. From Layouts, selecting “Detail View”, “Edit View”, “Edit View” and finally “Search Form”

Further environment information:

OS: Windows 2003 Enterprise, SP1
MSSQL2005 : SP1
IIS6.0

If anybody can help or requires any further information, please ask.

After testing on different OS platforms, PHP versions I have finally managed to get 4.5.0F Studio edit layout working correctly and stable.

It appears the problem only seems to happen if PHP is running in CGI mode and not in ISAPI mode.

ISAPI mode it is!!!

I am having these same problems, especially getting the layouts to reflect fields correctly. I add rows, drag my custom fields to the empty slots, save the webpage and then their order gets shuffled around, some get duplicated others get removed, it is a real deal breaker for me.

I started with 4.5f (Bitrock installer) and just upgraded 4.5h.

I see in your post you mention the difference between CGI mode and ISAPI. How would I go about changing this on my installation which uses the Apache webserver.
